Law/Med

  • Law and Medical students are billed prior the beginning of the regular academic calendar; thus payment is due earlier.
  • All students are ultimately responsible for their student account bill. By monitoring your GWeb regularly you can be proactive and avoid multiple issues, such as administrative holds, late payment fees and finance charges.
  • GW does not mail bills. If someone is assisting you in bill payment, sign them up as an Authorized User to receive eBill notifications of any balance due.
  • Please sign up for the Monthly Payment Plan as early as possible. By using this service, you can help divide your education costs into easy-to-handle monthly payments. If used in conjunction with student loans, you can also lower your total loan debt after graduation. This plan allows you the flexibility to pick a monthly payment amount that works within your budget.
  • If you have a third party sponsor who is paying for all, or a portion, of the bill, please ensure that all required documentation has been submitted on-time.
  • To receive refunds quicker, create a refund profile in the Student Account eBill to receive refunds via direct deposit!
  • Sign-up for Tuition Insurance. If you withdrawal for a qualified reason, you could receive a refund of the semester's charges.
  • If financial aid is part of your payment strategy, make sure that you finalize your financial aid and/or registration, otherwise aid will not post. This tip can help avoid delays in receiving a refund, the assessment of late payment fees and finance charges and prevent a financial hold on your account.
  • Medical, Nursing and Health Science students are required to have insurance coverage. Students in these groups will be automatically enrolled in the George Washington Health Insurance Plan (SHIP). Students with insurance coverage that meet certain criteria can opt out. Please check the Student Health Service website for more information on eligibility and where to find the Medical Plan Waiver.

Things to Remember

  • Financial aid applications and monthly payment plan enrollment needs to be completed every academic year. Third party authorizations are the exception, and must be completed each semester. Please keep in mind that the academic calendar is from September to August.
  • Monitor your student account to see if any adjustments to your registration has resulted in additional charges, or unexpected balance due.
